Step 1: Sow seeds
π§ Soak the seeds in clean water for 4β6 hours to stimulate germination. π± Sow the seeds evenly in loose, moist, well-drained soil, then cover with a thin layer of soil. πΏ After 7β10 days, seeds will begin to sprout and develop into young seedlings. π± When seedlings reach 10β15 cm, thin them out to allow proper spacing for bulb development.
Step 2: Care for the Plants
βοΈ Ensure adequate sunlight: Grow in a location with full sun (at least 6 hours/day). π§ Water regularly: Keep soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. π± Fertilize every 2β3 weeks: Use organic fertilizer or balanced NPK for healthy growth. π§ Loosen soil gently around the base to help bulbs expand properly. π Monitor pests: Check for thrips or leaf miners and treat with organic solutions if needed.
Step 3: Harvesting
π± After 70β90 days, when bulbs are firm and tops begin to yellow and fall over, they are ready to harvest. βοΈ Gently pull the onions from the soil or loosen with a tool to avoid damaging the bulbs. π Let bulbs dry under sunlight for 1β2 days to cure before storage. π¦ Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place for longer shelf life.
